The standing water on the cracked tile floor was creeping up the legs of my trousers. I lifted a foot and toed the bathroom door closed, knowing full well what I was going to see. The door whined with the nasal squeal of hinges that had probably never been oiled.
Two words were spray-painted on the door. For the second time in a couple of weeks, I wondered what the hell they meant.

A gun battle ensues, leaving Jacobi clinging to life and Lindsay fighting police brutality charges in court. To help rehabilitate body and mind, she sets off for Half Moon Bay to housesit for her sister and niece.
Little does she know, she's being watched. And the watchers are killers who've left a bloody trail all over San Francisco.
Lindsay encounters all sorts of characters in this new setting - Half Moon Bay's police chief, a young mechanic and even a former porn star. She's even finding new possible friends to add to the Women's Murder Club. Her romance with Joe Morelli, who works with the Department of Homeland Security, also continues to blossom.
Life for Lindsay is chaotic and beautiful. But then she finds herself in a life or death situation that changes everything.
Bookworm's Briefing
Dedicated Women's Murder Club fans will definitely notice the absence of Lindsay's group members. The Women's Murder Club isn't as active in this fourth book in the series as it has been previously.
4th of July is more focused on Lindsay Boxer but readers won't be disappointed. You'll really get to know her more in this book than any other in the series. If you've not been following the series, though, you'll want to start with 1st to Die
to get the full Women's Murder Club experience.
