I'm Gonna Like Me:
Letting Off a Little Self-Esteem

By Jamie Lee Curtis and Illustrator Laura Cornell
Joanna Cotler Books
Hardcover

Author and actress Jamie Lee Curtis and illustrator Laura Cornell have teamed up again to teach children a lesson in self-esteem. The words "I'm gonna like me" are a prelude for one boy and one girl who are determined to like themselves no matter what.

The little girl stands in front of her class proclaiming, "I'm gonna like me when I'm called on to stand. I know all my letters like the back of my hand."

The boy also stands in front of class saying, "I'm gonna like me when my answer is wrong, like thinking my ruler was ten inches long."

From the positive side of being a child, such as good friends and just being silly, to the not-so-positive side of childhood, such as being the last person picked for a team, Curtis and Cornell are masters at showing children they should just be who they are no matter what.

Bookworm's Briefing
I'm Gonna Like Me is crafted in such a way that boys and girls alike will enjoy this book. The colors of the illustrations are so vivid and the words so honest, this title will quickly become a bedtime favorite.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Laura Cornell have also worked together on the books When I Was Little: A Four-Year-Old's Memoir of Her Youth, Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born, Today I Feel Silly: And Other Moods That Make My Day and Where Do Balloons Go? An Uplifting Mystery.
